Delta Offers Programs with Flights

Travel To Cuba With Delta Vacations

Travel restrictions to Cuba have relaxed, making it easier for U.S. citizens to visit this once forbidden destination, and that’s good news.
What’s better news is that Delta Vacations is now offering newly developed packages to Havana, Varadero and Cayo Santa Maria with travel beginning Jan. 5, 2017.
The Delta Vacations experience to Cuba currently consists of flight and hotel packages that allow travelers to see Cuba up close. Customers can fly from Atlanta, New York-JFK and Miami on Delta Air Lines directly to Havana with stays at select hotels and optional tours in each of the three cities. And, by booking a package with Delta Vacations, customers will receive 1,000 bonus miles in addition to the credited flown miles for flight and hotel packages to Cuba through the SkyMiles program. Travel agents, meanwhile, receive full commission on Cuba packages booked with Delta Vacations.
“Experiencing Cuba is a ‘bucket list’ item for many American travelers,” said John Caldwell, Delta Vacations president. “We are thrilled to now offer this opportunity for travelers wanting to experience the Cuban way of life, its energetic community and distinct culture.”
But with so many groups rushing to Cuba, choosing the right experience for your client can be daunting. Agents can put their mind to rest because Delta Vacations has thoroughly researched and vetted the destination, as well as the service providers that are in place to provide the best possible experience in Cuba for their customer. Delta Vacations makes a point that with each new destination, they prioritize customer care and personalized service, especially in places as unique as Cuba.
Delta Vacations gives travelers the opportunity to experience cultural attractions and historical sites while they are in Cuba because of the ability to divide their stay among three cities. Currently, Delta Vacations offers optional activities and tours from Havana that are historical, cultural and artistic in nature and unique to Cuba. Some of these experiences provide a glimpse into different community projects such as Terrazas, an eco-project that is now an UNESCO Biosphere reserve, or Hamel Street, a community project dedicated to the Afro-Cuban culture.
In the coming months, Delta Vacations will offer people-to-people programs in Cuba for five-night and seven-night stays. The program will consist of an itinerary with activities, tours, social exchanges and lectures that give travelers rich, deep insights into the Cuban people and culture.
Of note, visitors to Cuba must self-report the type of trip they are taking to the U.S. government, as their travel must fall under one of the 12 authorized categories by the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Delta Vacations offers optional activities and tours that can help meet the United States Office of Foreign Asset Control’s (OFAC) People to People requirements for travel to Cuba. However, at the present time, Delta Vacations does not offer programs that fully qualify travelers under these requirements and recommends becoming familiar with the travel restrictions before considering travel options.
Further, due to current Cuban government regulations, travelers going to Cuba from the U.S. (excluding those with a Cuban passport) will need to have Cuba-specific medical insurance and an entry visa. When travelers book a package to Cuba with Delta Vacations, a temporary medical insurance policy is included.
