Smithsonian Institution Offers Four Trips


  • Smithsonian will offer multiple departures of a new People-to-People Cultural Exchange Program to Cuba in 2012. Thanks to a special license issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Smithsonian Institution invites you to participate in this meaningful Cultural Exchange program with the Cuban people who are involved in the arts, cultural traditions, agriculture, natural history and education.

  • Travel Dates are: May 4 - 13; May 11 - 20; November 9 - 18; November 30 - December 9, 2012*. (*pending license renewal)

  • Take part in meaningful engagement with Cubans involved in the arts, cultural traditions, natural history, education and history

  • Explore Old Havana -- a living “textbook” of architectural styles -- with an architect, and learn how the city’s important buildings are being restored and protected.

  • Discover La Finca Vigia, the hilltop home of Ernest Hemingway for two decades, with a curator.

  • Learn about Afro-Cuban religious traditions with a santeria priest.

  • Engage with musicians and hear a variety of musical performances during your stay.

  • Travel beyond Havana to Matanzas and Santa Clara.
