International Expeditions Nature Oriented Trips

For years, legal travel to Cuba has been almost impossible for Americans, making this island of salsa, Colonial architecture and Caribbean beauty a forbidden fruit for the adventurous. International Expeditions, the world leader in engaging and authentic nature travel, has been licensed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to provide people-to-people Cuba travel for U.S. citizens. Not only does this allow you to travel to Cuba legally, but you can experience Cuba in the most authentic way possible — through the eyes of its people.
IE’s immersive itinerary offers a fascinating and unforgettable opportunity to interact with the Cuban people on a deep level — making you a true ambassador and not a “tourist.” IE’s program surveys all of Cuba’s cultural “must sees” including Trinidad, Bay of Pigs, Vinales and, of course, Havana. Since IE was granted a specific license for people-to-people cultural exchange, there will be no time allotted for independent exploration. Our itinerary offers a full schedule of engaging and immersive experiences focused on cultural exchange and education. But what really sets IE’s Cuba itinerary apart is our emphasis on engaging with Cuban naturalists, birders, biologists and conservation groups as we all learn about the transformative power that real, honest conversation can have in the lives of ordinary people.

What does "People-to-People" Cuba travel mean?

People-to-People travel is an initiative allowing U.S. citizens to travel to Cuba on a limited basis to participate in cultural experiences and have direct contact with the Cuban people to learn more about them and their culture. This is a highly rewarding educational experience, where you enjoy direct engagement with the Cuban people you will meet. IE’s people-to-people activities focus on education and cultural exchange as you meet Cuban birders, volunteers, scientists and more.
Travel to Cuba is highly limited. Please complete this interest profile online or click here to print a hard copy and return to our office via mail, email or fax so that we can contact you about 2012 and 2013 departure details.
