Arcadia in Cuba: New Semester and Summer Programs Arcadia University is pleased to announce that it has expanded its academic offerings in Havana, Cuba, to include both semester and summer programs, commencing in January 2013. Arcadia in Cuba programs will give students the opportunity to study at the University of Havana, and to enjoy a special connection with the University's Center for Hemispheric and U.S. Studies. Each program includes a core course focused on U.S. and Cuban relations along with Cuban history, taught by faculty from the University of Havana. This core course is designed to contextualize the social and political dynamics of Cuba within a global framework, and to provide insight into the relationship between Cuba and the United States. In addition, students will be able to study Spanish language and take courses (taught in Spanish) alongside Cuban students in all departments of the university. While in Cuba, Arcadia’s Resident Director will offer Arcadia students support in all aspects of student welfare as well as offering academic co-curricular learning opportunities that are designed to maximize the opportunity afforded by this unique island. With Arcadia in Cuba, students will immerse themselves in Cuba’s fascinating culture, living in the vibrant city of Havana, with its eclectic interplay of Latin, European and American cultural influences.
